My favourite nooks and crannies of Edinburgh.

Friday 24 March 2017

What to do this weekend: 25-26 March

ALL WEEKEND

Vintage Menu Art Pop-Up

Love Menu Art will be popping up with vintage menus at Checkpoint in Edinburgh on Saturday and moving to Glasgow's Vintage & Flea Market on Sunday. Perfect last minute Mother Day's present.

Last Weekend of Georgian Shadows

Make sure to check out the Georgian Shadows in Edinburgh's 250 years old New Town, before they disappear.

25TH MARCH, SATURDAY

World Wide Instameet 15

The topic of WWIM15 is kindness. @igersedinburgh has organised a meet at Penicuik House and there are still tickets available through Eventbrite. All they ask from you is to bring along some donations to the local food bank. If you are thinking of coming along, do register and you can still do a quick shop Saturday morning for the listed items.

Edinburgh International Festival Bookings

This Saturday at 10am the Edinburgh Edinburgh International Festival bookings finally open for everyone. You can discover the whole programme here or pick up one of their bright yellow brochures in town. Here are our top picks:

  • Opening event: Bloom - more information on 26 June, in the meantime put 4 August in your calendar. 59 Productions, the creators of previous years' Harmonium Project and Deep Time are behind Bloom to mark the 70th anniversary of EIF.
  • Opera: La Boheme - Puccini's classic is performed at the Festival Theatre by Teatro Regio of Turin.
  • Theatre: Rhinoceros - townspeople turning into rhinos? We're pretty excited about this play at the Royal Lyceum Theatre.
  • Classical music: Seon-Jin Cho - I can never say no for some Chopin. Also worth checking out the concerts at St Cecilia's Hall as the venue has recently been refurbished.

Canteen Street Food Market

Canteen is East Lothian's very first street food market, hosted by the Archerfield Walled Garden and brought to you by Rogue Village. Vendors include El Cartel, Haggisman, The Marshmallow Lady and Pizza Geeks amongst others.

26TH MARCH, SUNDAY

Mothers Day

Make sure to treat your Mum for Mothers Day this Sunday with something nice - we love the Biscuiteers' bouquet biscuit tin if you don't want to go for the standard bouquet.

Have a nice weekend!
And don't forget: the clocks go forward one hour on Sunday to mark the start of British Summer Time.
