Heverlee at New Waverley

Head to the New Waverley Arches this weekend - there is a cracking Belgian micro-festival is happening in the 'burgh, brought to you by Heverlee. They have teamed up with The Pitt, The Skinny and Firecracker Recordings, so there will be Belgian style streetfood, music, street art as well as cinema screenings by Kino Klub. Check out the full line-up on their Facebook event site. We are very much looking forward to munching on Belgian waffels, tasting some Heverlee limited brews and watching The Adventures of Tintin. Oh and we almost forgot the best news: it's free to enter!

Dunkirk on 70mm

If you are a true cinema lover, we recommend you watch Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk at the Filmhouse on 70mm. Make sure to book your ticket in advance - all Cinema 1 screenings will be 70mm, while Cinema 2 and 3 will screen from DCP.

Hungary and thirsty

Small promo for my home country - this weekend you have the opportunity to taste Hungarian cuisine and wines at the Edinburgh Food Studio. They might still have a few spots left, be quick if you don't want to miss the mangalica!

National Whisky Festival

The National Whisky Festival is coming to the Corn Exchange this Saturday. Exhibitors include Elements of Islay, Aelder Elixir from Buck and Birch, Arbikie, Glenfiddich and others. Buy your ticket here.

23RD JULY, SUNDAY

Wild Wine Fair

Timberyard at Lady Lawson Street is hosting Scotland's first dedicated natural wine fair. Athough tickets are sold out, you might still get on the waiting list. (Yep, sadly we were also too late to get tickets and hoping we get in from the waiting list!) The good news is that the after party is open to everyone and it is hosted by one of your favourite wine bars, the Good Brothers in Stockbridge.

Blondilox Pop-up

The lovely Blondilox will be popping up at Lululemon Edinburgh this Sunday between 11am and 1pm with a porridge and healthy snacks shop. Make sure to say hi to her and stock up on your favourite porridge blend.

Artists' Bookmarket

The annual Artists' Bookmarket is on between 11am-6pm on Saturday and 11am-5pm on Sunday at the Fruitmarket Gallery. There will be also accompanying talks, events (audio book silent disco!) and workshops - check out the full list on the Fruitmarket Gallery's website and join the Facebook event. Also if you have not been since the refurb, MILK is operating now the gallery cafe - tasty brunch guaranteed!

27TH FEBRUARY, SATURDAY

1st Pitt of the year

Food traders include Barnacles&Bones and everyone's favourite Lovecrumbs. Just to name a few drink traders: Barney's Beer, Smith&Gertrude and the Bearded Barista. The Pitt is on between 12-22pm and fingers crossed that the sunshine stays for the weekend! Check the Facebook event for further details.

Kask Whisky

Six nations of whisky to coincide with the rugby (Italy vs Scotland), between 8-10.30pm at the Hill Street Design House. Read more here. Tickets are £25 per person and you can purchase them here. Baltic Film Society

Do you love unusual movies? You might have guessed, we do. The Baltic Film Society is hosting its first screening at Summerhall at 6pm and you will have the chance to watch the Latvian cinematic classic Four White Shirts. Read the plot and book tickets on the Summerhall's website.

What to do this weekend: 12-13 Dec

Not too long before Christmas and so many cool events happening in town. I will not mention the Christmas market here, as you have probably visited several times (or at least once to sip some hot toddies).

Virgin Money Street of Lights (until 24th Dec)

This event is free, but ticketed. Reserve your free tickets here. Do not worry if you still have not got tickets and the performance you wish to attend is sold out - an extra 500 tickets are released at 9pm the evening before.

If you are into whisky, there is a special 'Whisky Enlightenment' tour at The Scotch Whisky Experience which you can attend before or after the performance (15 gbp).

12TH DECEMBER, SATURDAY

Christmas at the Pitt

Say hello to Edinburgh's brand new street food market at Pitt Street. Vendors include The Crema Caravan, Barnacles and Bones and many others. Keep up-to-date: Facebook event.

Out of the Blue Xmas Art Market + Bruncheon

Entry 1 gbp. More than 100 artists and makers will be selling their work, so surely you will be able to find some unique Christmas gifts. There will be live music and mulled wine to put you in festive mood. Facebook event.

Roy Lichtenstein: Performing Costume, 11am&2pm
Love pop art? Visit the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art (Modern One) to see the new dance performance of the Edinburgh College of Art and Edinburgh College - inspired by Lichtenstein's work. Find out more about the event here. No booking required and the event is free. If you are near Princes Street, you can catch the regular free Gallery Bus which takes you to the Modern.

13TH DECEMBER, SUNDAY

Summerhall Christmas Market

Entry 2 gbp. Expect festive carols, Gluhwein and a great range of local stallholders including The Marshmallow Lady, Jupiter Artland and several Summerhall residents. Can I tempt you with naming some of the food vendors? Harajuku Kitchen, Ninja Buns and The Crema Caravan will all be there!
