What to do this weekend: 12-13 March

ALL WEEKEND

Italian Film Festival

Find the best of 'il cinema Italiano' at the 23rd Italian Film Festival of Filmhouse. There is a special focus this year on Luchino Visconti's work so you have the opportunity to see some classics (such as Rocco and his Brothers from 1960) as well as new releases.

12TH MARCH, SATURDAY

Georgie Farm Seed Swap

Have you ever been to Gorgie City Farm? It is a hidden piece of countryside in the heart of busy Gorgie with all kinds of farm animals: duck, chickens, goats, sheep, pigs and cattle. An adorable baby goat has just arrived a few days ago! This weekend they are holding their annual seed swap event for keen gardeners. Sign up for the Facebook event here.

Disabled Access Day

Disabled Access Day is on for the second year with Euan's Guide as the main sponsor and numerous venues involved - such as the National Gallery of Scotland, Traverse Theatre, Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh Zoo and the Royal Botanic Garden. Anyone quoting 'Disabled Access Day' will get free entry to the glasshouses.

13TH MARCH, SUNDAY

Build It! - Challenge Day

Source: London phone box by Warren Elsmore

Calling all LEGO lovers - the National Museum of Scotland is hosting a Build It! Challenge Day at the Grand Gallery this Sunday. Expect lots of fun and architecture-based challenges, given 2016 is the Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design celebrations in Scotland.

Six Nations

It is match day at Murrayfield, kicking off between Scotland and France at 3pm. Expect lots of rugby buzz and Frenchmen all around the city. We are backing blue, obviously.
Hint for those leaving nearby: you might want to schedule your Sunday shopping ridiculously early or late (or better: take the bus) - nothing like trying to find a parking place on your street on match day.

Have a nice weekend!
